Moorpark, Ventura County
Moorpark incorporated in 1983 and has grown from a farm town of a few thousand to a suburb of about 36,000. Moorpark College, opened in 1967, runs one of the few programs in the country that trains zookeepers and animal handlers, and its small teaching zoo is open to visitors on weekends. Orchards and horse ranches still line the valleys around the city.
